Let us pray.
O God, who givest us joy by the annual solemnity of blessed Blaise, Thy martyr and bishop, mercifully grant that we may rejoice in his protection, whose heavenly birthday we celebrate.
Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end.
R. Amen.

Lesson
Lesson from the second letter of St Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians
2 Cor 1:3-7
Brethren,, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforteth us in all our tribulation; that we also may be able to comfort them who are in all distress, by the exhortation wherewith we also are exhorted by God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us: so also by Christ doth our comfort abound. Now whether we be in tribulation, it is for your exhortation and salvation: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation: or whether we be exhorted, it is for your exhortation and salvation, which worketh the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer. That our hope for you may be steadfast: of the sufferings, so shall you be also of the consolation, in Christ Jesus our Lord.
R. Thanks be to God.

Gradual
Ps 8:6-7
Thou hast crowned him with glory and honor.
V. And hast set him over the works of Thy hands, O Lord. [Alleluia, alleluia.
V. This is the priest whom the Lord hath crowned. Alleluia.]

In Septuagesima the bracketed Alleluia text is replaced with the Tract:

[Ps. 11:1-3
Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord: he delighteth exceedingly in His commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the righteous shall be blessed. Glory and wealth shall be in his house, and his justice remained for ever and ever.]

Gospel
Continuation ✠ of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
R. Glory be to Thee, O Lord.
Matt 16:24-27
At that time, Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For he who would save his life will lose it; but he who loses his life for My sake will find it. For what does it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, but suffer the loss of his own soul? For the Son of Man is to come with His angels in the glory of His Father, and then He will render to everyone according to His conduct.
R. Praise be to Thee, O Christ.
S. By the words of the Gospel may our sins be blotted out.

Offertorium
Ps 88:21-22
I have found David My servant, with My holy oil I have anointed him; for My hand shall help him, and My arm shall strengthen him.

Secreta
Sanctify, O Lord, the offerings dedicated unto Thee, and appeased by the intercession of blessed Blaise Thy Martyr and bishop, and also by this sacrifice, look mercifully upon us.
Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end.
R. Amen.

Prefatio
Common
It is truly meet and just, and profitable unto salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks to thee, O Holy Lord, Father Almighty, eternal God, through Christ, our Lord. Though whom the angels praise thy majesty, the dominions adore it, the powers are in awe. Which the heavens and the hosts of heaven together with the blessed seraphim joyfully do magnify. And do thou command that it be permitted to us join with them in confessing thee, while we say with lowly praise:

Communio
Ps 20:4
Thou hast set on his head, O Lord, a crown of precious stones.

Postcommunio
Let us pray.
May this communion, O Lord purify us from guilt, and by the intercession of blessed Blaise Thy martyr and bishop, make us partakers of a heavenly remedy.
Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end.
R. Amen.
